Morning Fog on the Ridge
A short winter series photographed at first light from the ridge above the studio. Six prints, edition of twelve.
The ridge sits about forty minutes north of the studio. In January the light arrives late, cold, and quiet, and the ground stays gray until well past nine. Most of these frames were made in that hour.
I keep to the same fence line each time. The exposures are long — eight to twelve seconds — because I want the mist to record as a soft edge instead of a defined shape.
The final selection is six prints, each pulled at 26 × 36 cm on matte cotton. Edition of twelve. Two artist proofs held back.
